Education system : Miles to go
Today the scenario of education system in India is that a 2nd standard student failing short to write a sentence in three different languages (English, Hindi and his native language)
Technology may be advancing in India, but the backward students do not know the mean of electricity and yet we are thinking for e-learning. Will it be successful with a weak base?
The main difficulty in the education system is that we lack a common course structure. The introduction of continuous and comprehensive evaluation system of study in the CBSE board is a disgrace for the state and ICSE boards. Anil Kapoor, a national level film star not able to speak perfect English is a burning example showing the lacunae of the system. “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder What I am...........”-- these little stars will twinkle if they are nurtured with a quality education. Education does not mean making a student learn three different languages rather learning one language and translating into the other two. Assigning students with loads of homework though is not a value based system, but very much helpful to make them mentally prepared to fire the teachers. More the projects and pragmatic view of education be, the more students will be smart and the word "BOOKWORM " will vanish from the dictionary. To improve the system, unfinished jobs of the board authorities and fraudulent marking system should be necessarily removed. Universities are becoming hostages to political and bureaucratic whims. Valued education in schools has the capability to prevent many valuable criminals. Ban of beating students is a good step by the government, but the alternative is still to search.
