Does Education Determine my Worth
Education is the key to success. That is a phrase that most parents repeat over and over to their children in the hope they will grow up and choose careers that will make them successful in future.
As a parent the moment you hold that little bundle of joy, you have a mixture of emotions and many questions run through your mind. Will I be a good parent, how do I balance everything among others.
But as your children grow up we have certain expectations about how they will turn out in future. Parents tend to live their lives through their children by having certain ideas about jobs or careers that they will pursue.
Some parents will go to the extent of forcing their children to join certain colleges to pursue courses their children are against.
Education is not just what is learnt in an institution but also through life’s experiences.
Education presents a platform that ensures that we can get jobs to sustain ourselves, however a persons level of education does not determine their worth. Many of the persons who have made it big did not either go to college or did not finish college. A point to note is that there are careers that require education and to practice what is learnt. For instance a person choosing Medicine or Law as a career, college is compulsory unlike some careers that rely heavily on talent, for example hairdressing, chef or artists.
Whatever reason a person has for furthering their education, at the end of the day it does not determine your value.
