EBOLA CAN BE TRANSMITTED SEXUALLY FOR WEEKS AFTER RECOVERY
Sierra Leone is not the only country which has been greatly affected with Ebola but also has the highest rates of teen pregnancies and maternal mortality in the world.
International health organizations official have recommended that residents should practice safe sex by using a condom due to the fact that Ebola can be able to be transmitted when two people engage in relations with one another.
According to some, men are needed to be locked up for a month because they can’t do without sex women also are not left behind, they are locked for a month too because they can’t say no to the husbands when it comes to sex.
Some women were asked why they don’t use condoms and they said that their husbands will never accept the idea of using a condom and they even go as far as punching holes in the condoms as soon as they see them.
According to the World Health Organization, “men who recover from the illness can still spread the virus to their partners through their semen for up to seven weeks after recovery”.
Studies have shown that the Ebola virus can persist in semen longer than in the blood or other body fluids.
The rate of teen pregnancy is high in Sierra Leone especially during the holidays and that is something that has got the World Health Organization worried. The WHO is suggested that people in Sierra Leone should be taught on the subject of sex and teens should be taught on the consequences which are brought by having premarital sex.
